Wakatobi in September 2016
I had my first experience traveling overland from Bali to Tolandono island and it was quite an experience. The first leg of the journey was a flight from Denpasar to Makassar with an overnight stay in the airport with an average Trip Advisor rating of 2.3 stars, basic but for a quick nights sleep, it was fine. The following mornings journey was a short hop over to Kendari followed by another short flight to Wangi which is one of the 4 major islands in the Wakatobi archipelago. From Wangi to Tolandono island and Wakatobi Resort was a 5 1/2 boat trip over less than calm seas down the archipelago. All in all an interesting experience that I truthfully had wanted since I have harbored some jealousies of those who visited the resort in the early days during the late 90's.
The weather was warm, the seas were calm and the visibility was well above 75 feet.
